The Festival and the TV Logo

Camerimage is an international film festival dedicated to the art of cinematography, held annually in Poland. For three editions – 2017, 2018, and 2019 – I worked with Blackfish, the film and video studio handling Camerimage TV: the festival's own broadcast operation recording events, interviews, and daily summaries across the venue.

My role was to design the Camerimage TV logo and produce the animated daily schedules displayed on monitors throughout Opera Nova. Each year the festival commissioned a new key visual from an external designer; my job was to interpret that language for the TV sub-brand – staying close to the palette and imagery while bringing it into motion.

Additional Materials

As part of the Camerimage TV identity I designed an animated logo reveal, t-shirts for the crew, and print materials — sponsorship offers and expenses lists. I also prepared social media materials: job postings and announcements.

2017 Edition

First template

The 2017 edition was the first I worked on — and where the Camerimage TV logo was created. Piotr Jabłoński's poster for that year had a painterly quality, heavy with brush texture. I followed that directly: the animated schedules used the same colour scheme and the texture became the main motive in motion design.

2018 Edition

Improvments and adaptation

The 2018 poster was painted by Rafał Olbiński — a painter and poster designer known for his surrealist imagery. I picked up the feather motif from the poster: each schedule opened with the date appearing as feathers spreading in from the sides, then dissolving between scenes. The poster's blue palette shaped the overall atmosphere. Working from the previous year's template, I adapted and refined it to handle the daily updates more efficiently under the time pressure of a live festival.

2019 Edition

Figure animation

The 2019 poster was again designed by Piotr Jabłoński — a man mid-jump, frogs following behind him (the Golden Frog being the festival's main award). My interpretation was simple: before each schedule the man jumps across the screen, frogs chasing after him. I really enjoyed making this one move. Cutting out the figures from the poster and animating them separately, making the illustration move was really satisfying process.
