The Gates (wip title)

Self-directed study of rock gates for oil painting series.

  • Concept sketching – ideation and visual development from drawing

  • Sculpting in self-hardening (air-dry) clay – building the form physically by hand as a maquette

  • 3D capture / scanning (Luma AI) – digitising the physical sculpt into a 3D mesh (photogrammetry-style, NeRF-based capture)

  • Mesh generation and cleanup (Remesh modifier) – producing an even, workable mesh from the raw scan data, at a resolution appropriate to the piece's purpose

Macrix Technology Group is a boutique software house building bespoke solutions for heavy industry – metalworking, mining, automated warehousing. The identity grew in-house, one small piece at a time – mailings, two-pagers, flyers, social posts – and the 25th anniversary was the point where it consolidated into a full concept.

It was built to carry three things: the stability required to write code for heavy industrial systems, software treated as a physical material, and adaptability, drawn from the company's bespoke work and its move to bring AI into it. The sequence below traces that idea in five steps – from raw binary to a solid solution and back to a fluid, adaptable state, with steel refining as the visual reference.
