About the process

The Vase (wip title)

A self-directed study of an organic vessel form with poppy seed heads, spines and a cutaway interior. Part of artistic pratice explorations. The work covered:

– subdivision surface modelling from concept to final asset
– edge-flow control and boolean cleanup
– layered PBR materials built with hand-painted and procedural masks
– water simulation for the liquid interior
– scene staging and lighting.

The final render was made as reference for an oil painting study.

Macrix Technology Group is a boutique software house building bespoke solutions for heavy industry – metalworking, mining, automated warehousing. The identity grew in-house, one small piece at a time – mailings, two-pagers, flyers, social posts – and the 25th anniversary was the point where it consolidated into a full concept.

It was built to carry three things: the stability required to write code for heavy industrial systems, software treated as a physical material, and adaptability, drawn from the company's bespoke work and its move to bring AI into it. The sequence below traces that idea in five steps – from raw binary to a solid solution and back to a fluid, adaptable state, with steel refining as the visual reference.
